Abstract:

In this paper, a novel risk-based, two-objective (technical and economical) optimal reactive Power dispatch method in a wind-integrated Power system is proposed which is more consistent with operational criteria.  The technical objective includes the minimization of the new voltage instability risk index. The economical objective includes cost minimization of reactive Power generation and active Power loss. The proposed voltage instability risk employs a hybrid possibilistic (Delphi-Fuzzy)-probabilistic approach that takes into consideration the operator’s experience, the wind speed and demand forecast uncertainties when quantifying the risk index. The decision variables are the reactive Power resources of the system. To solve the problem, the modified multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm with sine and cosine acceleration coefficients is utilized. The method is implemented on the modified IEEE 30-bus system. The proposed method is compared with those in the previously published literature, and the results confirm that the proposed risk index is better at estimating the voltage instability risk of the system, especially in cases with severe impact and low probability. In addition, according to the simulation results compared to typical security-based planning, the proposed risk-based planning may increase the security and economy of the system due to better utilization of system resources.

Abstract:

In this paper, a new method for extending and relaxing the noise-coupling (NC) technique is proposed to enhance the noise-shaping order without adding the number of integrators. The noise-shaping order of the introduced ∑∆ modulator whit applying a second-order noise-coupling technique is enhanced and its performance with optimizing the noise transfer function (NTF) zeros is improved. Also, by removing the analog adder at feedforward path and transferring it to a new feedback branch before the last integrator and adding second-order NC path can be decreased the input voltage swing to the quantizer. Thus, by improving the modulator resolution, Power consumption can be reduced. Mathematical analyses and behavioural simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the new NC method. To examine its performance, a 2nd-order single loop ΣΔ modulator was designed. The new noise-coupling method is used to achieve the three-order noise shaping to increase the resolution with low complexity and low-Power. The results show an outstanding improvement in signal-to-noise and distortion ratio (SNDR) compared to the conventional structure.

Abstract:

Objectives: To investigate the relationship of the Core Power and endurance with variables of athletic performance such as T test, medicine ball throw test, vertical jump test and 40 yard dash test in random intermittent dynamic type sports (RIDS). Methods: 58 male collegiate athletes involved in RIDS with mean age of 19. 41 1. 19 years, height of 172 6. 62 cm, weight of 67. 41 8. 80 kg and BMI of 22. 56 2. 00 participated in this correlation study. The subjects were tested for Core Power, Core endurance and performance variables. The Core endurance was measured by McGill protocol and double leg lowering test (DLL) and the Core Power was measured by 60 seconds maximal sit-up test. Results: McGill protocol was positively correlated with medicine ball throw test (r = 0. 688) and vertical jump test (r = 0. 463). A strong negative correlation of McGill was identified with 40 yard dash test (r =-0. 525) and T test (r =-0. 687). At the same time DLL was positively correlated with 40 yard dash test (r = 0. 374) and T test (r = 0. 524). Only medicine ball throw test related significantly with the tests of Core Power. Conclusions: McGill test and DLL more significantly correlates with the performance variables such as medicine ball throw test, vertical jump test, 40 yard dash test and T test when compared with the Core Power measures of 60 seconds maximal sit-up test. The current study results also show that Core muscle endurance is necessary for optimal performance and should not be neglected.

Abstract:

Systems related to reactivity control in a heavy water zero Power reactor (HWZPR) consist of safety rod, control rod, emergency dump, and water level measurement and regulation systems. The control rod reactivity worth and safety rods should, therefore, meet the necessary safety criteria. The safety rods are used to shutdown the reactor through rapid falls in the emergency of the reactor and for a normal shutting down condition. According to the safety criteria, the equivalent rod reactivity worth must be appreciably greater than the maximum excess of reactivity which occurs in a reactor. The main applications of the control rods are to control the Power rising period and the transition from subcritical to supercritical states. According to the safety guide for a HWZPR when a reactor is close to the critical state, the reactivity insertion rate should not exceed 2×10-4 (Δ k/k)/s and the reactivity worth of each control rod should be less than 0. 2% Δ k/k to ensure the safety of the reactor operation. According to the obtained calculational and experimental results, these conditions are satisfied for HWZPR. By changing the reactor fuel from natural metal uranium to mixed fuel (natural metal uranium fuel and natural oxide uranium), the control rod reactivity worth is measured and according to the obtained results, the control rod reactivity worth can meet the above provisions.

Abstract:

Square-Core optical fiber is one of the modern optical fibers used in many fields such as astronomical spectroscopy, laser cutting and thermal applications of lasers and beam shaping optics. In this paper, an optical fiber that has a square Core with a side of 55 μ, m is designed for propagating laser light at a wavelength of 1060 nm. Then, using numerical analysis by finite element method (FEM), the distribution of electric and magnetic fields with different polarizations and magnetizations is analyzed for the first three propagating modes of the optical fiber. In the following, the changes of total energy density and Power flow are investigated. Finally, the results of the figures and plots are discussed completely.

Abstract:

Background: Kienbock disease is characterized by avascular necrosis of the lunate bone. Without treatment, it is usually progressive. While many factors may predispose to Kienbock's disease, it is likely caused by a combination of repetitive loading, vascular risk and mechanical predisposition. Treatments therefore have been designed to decrease compressive loading of the lunate, to prevent lunate collapse, and to allow lunate revascularization. There has been a suggested different treatment, no treatment has ever been proved successful and the rate of surgical complication is relatively high. In this study we performed a new surgical method in the treatment of Kienbock disease. In this method we performed lunate decompression which is a very simple procedure and has no potential complication. Methods: in this study, 11 patients with Kienbock disease in the stage of I to IIIb were surgically treated by a new method of lunate Core decompression. The pain, range of motion, functional disability and radiographic indices of the patients were evaluated after two years. Results: the average age of patients were 29 years, 8 (72%) were men. The mean pre-operative pain sCore (VAS) diminished from 87.5 to 13.5 postoperatively (p<0.001) and DASH sCore from 84 to 14 (p<0.001) and range of motion was also significantly improved.7 (63%) persons were very satisfied, 2 (18%) were satisfied and 2 (18%) were not much changed. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that the new surgical treatment of lunate Core decompression could probably be a simple and effective treatment of Kienbock disease without any potential complication.
